Netology vs Skillbox: Battle for First Place
Per GEO Scout data, Netology is mentioned in 86.55% of AI responses, ranking first among EdTech platforms in March 2026. Skillbox follows at 86.13%. The gap is 0.42 percentage points — effectively a statistical tie.
But behind identical mention rates lie fundamentally different AI visibility profiles.
Netology: Mentioned More, Recommended Less
Netology leads by mention frequency, but its recommendation rate is only 1.26%. AI readily includes Netology in lists but rarely highlights it as the best choice. Positive tone — 63.11%, domain citation — 13.45%.
Skillbox: Mentioned Less, But More Recommended and Cited
Skillbox trails in mention rate but wins on three critical metrics:
- Recommendation rate: 7.14% (5.7x higher than Netology)
- Domain citation: 25.21% (1.9x higher)

Google AI Mode cites the skillbox.ru domain in 50% of online education responses. Every other user asking Google AI Mode about courses gets a direct link to Skillbox. For traffic, this is critical.

The most unexpected insight: ChatGPT is the worst AI provider for Russian EdTech.

Why This Happens
1. Language barrier. ChatGPT relies on English-language data. Russian EdTech brands create content primarily in Russian.
2. Coursera dominance. In the English-language space, online education means Coursera, edX, Udemy. ChatGPT extrapolates this to all education queries.

DeepSeek cites Netology's domain in 55.2% of responses — one of the highest domain citation rates across all providers and brands.
Perplexity cites Yandex Practicum's domain in 56.7% of responses. For Yandex Practicum, Perplexity is one of the best channels for AI traffic.
Domain citation directly converts to traffic. The user sees a link in the AI response, clicks, and lands on the site.
Coursera — A Western Phenomenon in the Russian Ranking
Coursera ranks 7th overall (33.61%), but its profile is radically different from Russian brands.
ChatGPT gives Coursera 86.7% SoV. More than Netology (43.3%) and Skillbox (53.3%) combined. Meanwhile, YandexGPT mentions Coursera in only 3.3% of responses.
A mirror phenomenon: Russian brands are highly visible in Google AI Mode and Gemini, low in ChatGPT. Coursera — high in ChatGPT, near-zero in YandexGPT.
